4 Draft-Deciding Moments

\r\nThere are moments in every NFL season that make or break players. 2007 was no different. Let\’s look back at four draft-deciding moments:\r\n\r\nMoment #1: Matt Ryan throwing two amazing touchdown passes at the end of the game against Virginia Tech on October 25. It was rainy. It was cold. Ryan pulled that team to victory. He played well all season, but these five minutes of his life definitely gave him a boost as #1 quarterback of 2007\r\n\r\nMoment #2: Dennis Dixon injuring his knee on November 3 against Arizona State. I\’m not saying that he would have been ahead of Matt Ryan in the draft otherwise, but I do know that he would have definitely been invited to the Heisman ceremony and I suspect that he\’s be ranked higher in all mock drafts.\r\n\r\nMoment #3: Darren McFadden rocks the LSU game. McFadden was a superstar all season, but the game against LSU really impressed me. Is he a running back or a quarterback? Hell if I know. In the third, he ran the ball over 70 yards for a touchdown, but later in the game he was throwing touchdown passes. He was a workhorse during overtime as well, and although the game was ultimate won because Matt Flynn couldn\’t orchestrate a two-point conversion, McFadden really solidified himself as the BEST running back in college football during that game.\r\n\r\nMoment #4: Colt Brennan sucks in the Senior Bowl. During the entire season, Brennan was awesome time and time again. However, critics continually asked if he was really good or if he was just playing against sucky teams. When Hawaii lost their bowl, no one was surprised, but his crappy Senior Bowl showing really hammered the last nail into the coffin. Personally, I still think the kid\’s got game, but he lost all chances of a decent draft pick with that game.\r\n\r\nHonorable Mention: Austin Scott is charged with rape. He could have done OK in the draft, but that one night ended his football career…at least for now.
