Perhaps one of the strangest looking cars this year is the 2009 Chevrolet HHR. Despite looking like an updated version of the Chrysler PT Cruiser, Chevrolet assures us they are not the same.

The retro design of the Chevrolet HHR isn’t quite retro since it has sharper edges and a boxier look. I find myself drawn to this car for several reasons. First off, the design is a bit bizarre but it does serve some practical features. The box shape provides ample space for adults sitting in the front and rear seats. And the fold down seats also provide a nice flat surface to expand the trunk space.

The HHR also features one of the most economical engines in its class. It’s Ecotech 2.4L DOHC 4-Cylinder engine can get an impressive 22mpg in the city and 30mpg on the highway. You also have the choice to include the Getrag 5-speed manual transmission with hydraulic clutch.

The amazing part about the 2009 Chevrolet HHR is that it comes in an affordable bundle starting at just $19,440 for the base model and $25,535 for the Sport Turbocharged.
