Being new to social media, I thought it would be helpful to give you a few tips to get you going:

  • Start with something simple like Twitter or Facebook. All you have to do is complete the sign-up form that takes a couple of minutes. After sign-up, one of the first things you should do is find the Help section and read how to use the website.
  • Create a list of all your logins. When you start joining different social media websites, it is important that you keep up with your login information. Create an Excel spreadsheet and track the website domain, username and password.
  • Be wise when friending and following others. As you develop your online network, use wisdom when connecting with others. If you are unsure about someone, ask one of the people that you are already connected to if they would give you feedback regarding whether you should connect with the person.
