4 Reasons the Yanks Should Have Kept the Buried Shirt

Sigh. The New York Yankees took the fun out of the would-be curse by retrieving the t-shirt buried (by a Boston Red Sox fan) in the concrete of the new stadium—although they get a gold-star for donating the proceeds to a Boston-area charity. Still, here are four reasons they should have let sleeping clothes lie.

1. It would give Yanks fans a scapegoat if the team falters.

2. It would give Yanks fans something to brag about (as if they need help with that) should the team do well “despite the curse.”

3. Boston had to suffer with the Babe Ruth curse for 86 years. The Yanks had one for 8 months. Where’s the justice in that?

4. The concrete tomb housed a David Ortiz shirt. Big Papi is off to the worst season start of his career—a batting average of .070. Looks like the Yankees jumped the gun because right now Ortiz seems to be the one cursed. But hey, we’ll take it. Look for #34 to bust it open now that his shirt has been unearthed from enemy territory.
