During this recession, many people are trying to find ways to make a few extra bucks. My sister sells plasma (part of the blood) regularly to get a little extra money. But that not’s the only thing you can do to make a little extra payola. Moolanomy offers 9 Really Weird Ways to Make Money. Here are 5 of the ways I thought most intriguing:
- Medical Trials. I live about an hour and a half from a university with a research hospital. There are ads on the radio all the time looking for people to participate in medical trials. As long as you meet certain requirements, it is possible for you to get paid for your participation in medical trials, testing drugs, treatments and procedures.
- Selling various bodily fluids. You can sell plasma, as I mentioned above. Additionally, it is possible to sell your blood — you don’t have to just donate it at the blood drive. And, while not strictly fluids, you can also sell your sperm or eggs. It is possible for men to sperm to sperm banks and clinics, and women can sell their eggs to fertility clinics. I’ll never forget the ad I saw in the college newspaper, looking for women with good grades and in good health to sell their eggs to couples looking to conceive.
- Sell your hair. If your hair is long enough, you can sell it. There are all sorts of high-end wig makers and others looking to buy well-kept, healthy human locks.
- Scrap metal. Head to the junk yard and scrounge around for scrap metal. What you buy cheap (or get for free) can be sold for a profit. Just make sure you are doing it legally.
- Stock images. This one is pretty cool. If you take high quality pictures, you can sell them as stock images for one-time payments or for royalties.
Can you think of other weird ways to make money?
