$500 PCs. Anyone?

July 2, 2007 by Milo Riano

Bangalore and Pune in India should be getting their $500 PCs with the basic Windows Vista version installed in it. Microsoft, AMD and Zenith Computers Ltd. have teamed up to provide affordable computers to students in India.

This is really encouraging and putting aside any controversy by Microsoft’s intention, students would greatly benefit from this. I could remember my first computer was purchased for over $600 dollars back in college without any licensed software included in the package. It took me almost a year to get the money for the purchase and getting the computer helped me tremendously in school. I won a number of computer science project awards, got straight grades of 1.0 (100%) in major computer subjects and used it for my freelance programming work.

I am sure a lot of students from India would be happy with it even though it is a secret move of Microsoft to continue its dominance.
