Windows Live Keeps on Scoring

logo01.gifThe new Windows Live search platform had scored with another major site.

This time it is MSNBC.com which added a full site search. For example, if you run a search for topics in the news like Britney Spears, you’ll see a split screen listing “Most Recent” and a “Full Search” breakdown.

Implementation was pretty simple for our engineering team. We used the MSN Search API to retrieve a few different sets of data for each query we receive and then assemble them when rendering the results. We took advantage of some of the advanced query operators to scope the results right for news.

To feedback the search crew use this form, and the official MSN Search Blog post is here.
