AMD has been slow and behind Intel on the consumer computing market. In the server market, AMD is aggressive and pushing hard against Intel.

AMD has a powerful new line of 6 core processors on its Opteron HE and SE series. The first wave of AMD 6 core processors were up on June 1, 2009 but these new line of computing power are around 20 percent better in performance per watt compared to original models.

The Opeteron SE consumes around 105 watts but every watt brings back more computing power while the Opteron HE consumes 55 watts aimed at lower end data centers.

Reports say that Opteron HE chips costs around $455.00 to $1,000.00 dollars. The Opteron SE would cost around $1,514 to around $2,700.00 dollars.

While these machines are for business usage, I would still love to have machine for my own home usage.

How about you? Are you digging the 6 core processors for your personal computing?
