6 Things You Don’t Know About…Phil Gerbyshak

Anita Bruzzese recently tagged David and I for 6 things you don’t know about us. I thought I’d give this a whirl first, and see if David wants to share or not.

- I have 2 brothers, Paul and Patrick, and we are each 3 years apart (I’m 34, Paul is 31, Patrick is 28).
- I joined the Navy to get of my hometown of 996 people and served as a communications technician, playing with computers and having e-mail well before most other people did. I also learned to play networked hearts on Windows 3.11.
- I had zero personal conversations with anyone of any ethnic background until I went to Milwaukee to join the Navy in 199.
- I lived in Seoul Korea for a year while I was in the Navy, and taught English and worked at a very cool hotel on our base, the Dragon Hill Lodge, where I dressed up as Santa Claus one year because the original Santa caught mono the night before all the kids were going to come to the hotel for pictures.
- I am slightly color blind, and have trouble seeing colors on the edges of the color spectrum (grey and green and brown often look the same). This is a problem when I try to match my socks to my pants once in a while.
Here’s the rules of the meme:
1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
4. Tag at least three people at the end of your post and link to their blogs.
5. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
So I tag:
- Alex Kjerulf (the man in the picture with me above)
- Jose Castillo
- Mike Kanazawa
- Michael Stallard
- Erika Anderson
- Rosa Say
- Kevin Eikenberry
- and other other blogger who wants to play!

One bit of clarification: The reason I never talked to anyone of any ethnicity is because my small town of 996 had nobody of any ethnicity to talk to. An odd little town it was :)
Woo Hoo for the Navy :) Thanks for sharing and a sincere thanks for your service.
You bet April! Thank YOU as well!
