66-Year-Old Soccer Player Unretires

Re-entering the workforce after retirement isn’t just for people with office jobs. In Italy, a 66-year-old soccer player has come out of retirement to play the sport once again. Lamberto Boranga, a goalkeeper who first played for a club soccer team in 1961, will join a team named L’Ammeto.

Said Boranga: “I will do it because a friend asked me for some help. For the first game of the season, the side’s two goalkeepers are suspended and I didn’t know how to resist the lure of the football field.”

Boranga has kept active in retirement. In fact, he is a record holder in the high jump, long jump and triple jump for people in his age group.

If you are thinking about coming out of retirement and getting a job once again, Boranga’s situation proves that you won’t be alone. Your job might seem too difficult compared to a goalkeeper who will have soccer balls flying at him from players one-third of his age!
