6th annual Special Olympics European Football Week

The 6th annual Special Olympics European Football Week [UEFA sponsored] will be held on 24 April to 3 May, 2006. It is approximately around 50,000 players with intellectual disabilities will be participating in football events across 50 countries in Europe | Eurasia.

This is aimed to create awareness on the abilities of athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout Europe and Eurasia. They are continually supported by clubs and federations that are recognised by UEFA.

Special Olympics and Paralympics are two separate organisations recognised by the International Olympic Committee. Special Olympics offers sports opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities of all ability levels. Paralympics gives opportunities to élite-level athletes with disabilities.
