Calling for Torchbearers and Escort Runners!

Can you imagine mobilising 21,880 torchbearers and 5,000 escort runners for The Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay?
Well, that’s what just commenced over the weekend. The article I read said that the process of choosing who get to participate will run until 31 October 2007 and the BOCOG will allow a number of different groups to put in place their own selection process for torchbearers and escort runners for this event for the 2008 Beijing Games.
The relay is expected to last 130 days and covers a distance of 137,000 kilometres, passing through the five continents and visiting some of the principal points of the ancient Silk Road. With its theme, “Journey of Harmony”, and its slogan “Light the Passion, Share the Dream”, the 2008 Olympic Torch Relay will be an opportunity for BOCOG to share its Olympic message with the world.
I wonder if it will pass in the Philippine archipelago. Hmmm. If it will, I’ll DEFINITELY endeavour to watch it!
Hi, I am interested in finding more info about the Olympic Torch and if it is being brought to the US – specifically the Northeast – Rhode Island – Boston my son has been a runner since he was six, soon to be eagle scout at 16 – this would be a dream come true.
I have a wonderful person I would like to select to carrie the torch. He has done so much for this country and has had hugh impact on the environment around the world. You are wondering who he is this guy is in Texas, how do I nominate him.
