A Day Away From The Computer

owleyes.jpgYesterday I didn’t even turn my computer on! Amazing. I’m so used to reading email, blogging and writing on an almost daily basis that a day without the computer is, well, unseal.

Of course, my world didn’t stop; I didn’t forget how to write; none of the emails required instant attention. There was more spam to delete, but that’s about all.

I’m convinced I should do this more often. Maybe even as often as once a week. It has to do with taking real time off, a subject I talk about often. On the whole, I find that a day or two off improves my attitude and my writing.

In fact, I think I’ll take the rest of today off as well.

Write well and often,

Anne Wayman

My life is so busy with family business, community activities and grandkids that I have begun to think of my computer time as “my time”.

But when I am working on a writing project it does pay to walk away occasionally which will do wonders for mental clarity.

My enthusiasm for writing improves when I give myself some time away from the computer. It doesn’t take long for me to be refreshed, but when I do take the break I believe my work improves vastly too.

yep… time away helps imo… it’s been awhile since I was so busy that the computer becomes my time, but I remember that.

  4. True days off are very important.

Turning my computer off for a day is a scary thought to me. I would have to prepare days in advance for it, haha. However, I know taking a break from it all – even if not from writing altogether – is important. Hmm. If I do this, I’ll post about it. Congrats Anne :)

    Great post –

I must admit I rarely take a true day away from the computer. On occasion, though, when I’ve been out of town, I have spent several days away and you’re right – all the things that once seemed so immediate and urgent somehow managed to survive without my attention.

Thanks for the reminder about life’s proper perspective,
