A Fun Startup Simulation – Super Widgets

The folks at atlantapreneurs.com have just released Super Widgets – the startup simulation.

It’s an alpha release, very basic, but fun and entertaining nonetheless. Your goal is to make $30,000 in 52 weeks by hiring developers, releasing products and selling them. There are a few things you can do including expand your office, hire more people and advertise your products.

I’m not ashamed to admit it took me a few tries before I figured out how to balance things properly and win. Once you’ve won, the game isn’t deep enough to really warrant playing again, but it’s still fun. And once you picture yourself in charge and earning $30,000,000 instead of $30,000 … well, we can all dream, right?
