A HISTORIC OBAMA
The headline of the Philippine Daily Inquirer (5 June 2008) proclaims: Obama makes history. In his drive towards the Presidency of the United States, the GOP management of the US economy is going to provide ample grist for the Obama campaign mill. In addition, there are the casualties in the Iraq war which directly hit voters’ hearts.
A New York Times / CBS News Poll of 1368 respondents (1,196 registered voters, 510 Democratic Primary Voters, 323 Republican Primary Voters) conducted from 28 March through 2 April 2008, on issues related to the US Economy, shows Americans’ dissatisfaction about the state of the nation:
If Bush & his economic management team are not able to make significant turnaround changes before November and if there are more American casualties in Iraq, Obama –whose campaign platform is appropriately Change– is again going to make history as the first Black President.
On a post mortem of the just concluded Democratic nomination campaign, Eric Eggertson of Common Sense PR presents some thoughts on what went wrong with the Clinton drive to capture the nomination: “I’m with the pundits who say it was her team’s assumption that they were orchestrating a coronation when they needed to be gearing up for a marathon race.”
What do you think are the chances of the Bush economic management team being able to deliver positive changes to boost the GOP campaign?
