A Kindle Review I Like

The day before Thanksgiving I posted about Amazon’s new ebook reader. There’s lots of buzz around the blogasphere, a lot of which makes little sense to me. However, Michael S. Hyatt, President CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers and writer of the blog From Where I Sit has reviewed the device in a post called: Kindle: First Impressions.

First of all, unlike many, including me, he’s actually used one, and pretty extensively. That helps. He observes that the Kindle is more like a bookstore than an ebook reader – interesting thought, that – a bookstore I can take with me.

Then he details the pros and cons. He likes the epaper and points out something called Kindle NowNow which, according to him, let’s you email Amazon questions and get an answer back in something like 5 minutes. The example he uses is a research question… I would guess this feature will either go away or be charged for when there are a good number of the devices out there.

On the con side, it’s clear that 90,000 titles isn’t enough

I’m going to wait on this one for awhile. Of course, I do accept gifts ;)
