A Love/Hate Relationship

Sports. We love them, right? I know I wrote earlier about how I fell in love with the game of tennis and this time, I want to speak a little more broadly about my relationship with sports. It’s a love/hate relationship. It’s up, and it’s down. When you’re winning (or your team or person is winning), you’re on top of the world. Things couldn’t be better. And when you’re losing (or your team or person is losing), it’s horrible. You feel like the weight of the world is pressing down on you.

I couldn’t imagine my life without sports in them, but I sometimes wonder if it just wouldn’t be easier if I wasn’t a sports nut. All the emotional highs and lows – whether they’re from the stands or from the comfort of your couch in front of the television – they suck. Well, when you’re on the low end of the spectrum any way.

Let’s just say I used to feel a little bit like that when Andy Roddick lost way back in the day…waaaaay back in the day. Now it’s just something you take in stride – kinda like Roger Federer winning all those titles before he lost to Novak Djokovic.
