A New Hat in the Ring… And a new contest for Spring!
(well, the contest is really only for April, but more on that below. In the meantime…)
I am really excited to announce that I (Maddy) am the new co-blogger for One Vote Matters! I’m looking forward to exploring the ways (and means) that politics, and our politicians, affect our daily and business lives.
As a child I was fascinated by politics and the political system. And I always dreamed of someday working in Washington, DC. And yet, I now work in a law office in Philadelphia where I focus on Estate and Tax Planning/Administration and occasionally get inspired by a local or national candidate.
AND now to the contest, inspired by the April 24th “Take your child to work day,” it’s all about childhood dreams – and prizes – a $25 dollar Barnes and Noble gift card, to be exact.
And all you have to do is let us know, by commenting below, what were your childhood aspirations? Did you want to be President or Governor or Mayor? Did you picture yourself working on Capitol Hill or as a Secret Service Agent? Whether your childhood dreams were focused on government or not, we’d like to know just what you wanted to be when you grew (grow) up.
And here are the rules:
1, Comments must be posted between 12:01 am EST on April 1 and
11:59pm EST on April 20.
2, You must include your full name and your email address in the
correct field with your comment. We won’t publish your email address
but we do need contact information for the winning entry. We respect
your privacy, and we will not send you anything unrelated to your
entry in this contest.
3, You can enter the contest as many times as you’d like, as long as
each comment is unique.
4, By entering the contest, you agree that b5media may post any part
or all of your comment, including your name, as a part of the contest
announcements or promotions, with the exception of your email address.
5, By entering the contest, you agree that all works submitted on
your behalf are original and belong to you or you declare that you
have the right to submit those works. You may not submit ideas that
are not your own or that you do not have permission to submit.
6, All decisions related to finalists are in the sole discretion of
the judge and are final.

When I was growing up, I dreamed of being an ambassador. I figured I’d start with some Central/South American country and eventually work my way up to the UN.
For a few fleeting years I thought I wanted to be a nurse. Then I realized that I don’t like to be around sick people and in fact can vomit at the drop of a hat (or the splatter of vomit if you will). Not good attributes for a nursing career!
I wanted to work for Jim Henson as a puppeteer for the Muppets. That would have meant living in London or NYC. Cool. Hey, wait, I think maybe I *still* want that job! ;-)
