A Sad Evening at Home Today

The day started off well enough. The kids were sleeping over at MIL and FIL’s house, so that allowed me to sleep in a little bit and get some things done around the house. Later in the day my son and I went out to get our follicles trimmed off our craniums. We stopped by BW3’s for some college football and hot wings and headed home after the festivities to watch the Ohio State game, but that’s where the good times ended.
Ohio State lost their unbeaten season mark to Illinois. My son was pretty upset and after the game he just wanted to play some Madden ‘08 with me on the Xbox 360. His day was about to get worse. The 3-red lights of death illuminated on the front display and that was not what I wanted to see either.
We’ve had the machine for less than a year, Christmas present last year. I went online and did a quick search about all the details and found this post about what to expect and what each light means.
I’ve still got some troubleshooting to do at home this evening, but it looks like I’ll be calling Xbox 360 support and have them send me a box home to ship it back to them for repair. I didn’t see any details in the article below about what I could expect to be seeing as a cost out of my pocket.
Anyone else have any ideas?
The article below is the best one I found with details about the “ring of death” and what to do if you experience it for yourself.

You should still be under warranty = free. If it’s out of warranty though, sounds like $140 from this source here.
