In the previous article, “A simple plan to start a business for new owners“, I shared a mind map with you that provided a simple view of a business plan. I now want to share with you a simple to do list to help you as a new business owner.
Below are ten (10) basic things that you can do to help get your business started:
- Create a business or strategy plan that will help you steer your business in the right direction and allow you to start your business right.
- Choose a business legal structure that will benefit your business (for more details visit “Choose a Business Structure“).
- Create a marketing plan that will be a gradual way for you to brand your business using online or offline sources.
- Determine where you want to locate your office. Whether you will have a home office or an office located outside of your home, you should determine this early on.
- Determine revenue model that you will follow as you manage your business.
- Obtain information from sources such as governmental or informational organizations that will provide you with details on starting a new business, such as:
- Local, state, and national governmental agencies
- Online sources like Entreprenuer.com
- Determine office equipment/supplies that you need in order for your office to run smoothly.
- Develop partnerships with others in a complimentary industry or your own so that you can create a well-rounded synergy. This could help you with the reach of your business industry-wise.
- Develop a support team of people that you can outsource tasks or projects which can help your business grow
- Identify people who will be your support group when you need to turn to someone for advise
