Only one letter differentiates SPAM from SCAM. And, SCAM is only one letter away from SCUM. Emails about Nigerian lottery winnings and unclaimed bank deposits bank on gaining your confidence which is where a scam starts. And, SCAMs are perpetrated by SCUMs.

from wikipedia:
As of February 2007, spam volume has been estimated to have grown to 90 billion per day. Some legitimate companies have used spam to undertake bulk-marketing for their products. Some countries have laws against spam (Australia and all countries of the European Union). The US has the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003.

90 million spams…PER DAY? That is an enormous amount of mail, but no matter what, scammer companies keep pushing it and some of us keep taking the bait. Unfortunately.

  2. ren says:

That’s 90 billion with a B, as in Bridget. Humongous enormous!
