ACCOUNTING FOR SUCCESS IN REJECTION: Renaldo Lapuz
In a recent episode of AMERICAN IDOL, a Filipino American –Renaldo Lapuz– got rejected and gained instant global fame.
AI judges, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson, for 15 minutes on the show, danced to the song of Renaldo Lapuz –We’re Brothers Forever– as he was turned down for the AI Hollywood Round. Simon Cowell commented that he had “a horrible feeling that Brothers would be a hit.” Interviews in Fox News followed. An enterprising netizen put up www.renaldolapuz.com which reported 20,000 hits in the first 24 hours and more than 100,000 a week after launch. A blogger dubbed him “the new idol of rejects.”

There really is no accounting for success. It comes in many & unexpected guises. It even comes from rejection.

A nice rejection success story. I was also a reject- kick out of the seminary despite my wanting to become a missionary. For few reasons I got kicked out.
VSO International, however, gave me a new meaning of life. I was accepted as international volunteer assigned to Bangladesh.
My reject recommendation earned dollars for the project where I worked. From Tk 262M the Phase II of our project was increased by CIDA to Tk 480M and became a national program.
If people will only learned from Ren Lapuz, rejections have so much vitality for success.
