Adam Vinatieri Injury Update – Knee Surgery

Adam Vinatieri, the kicker for the Indianapolis Colts, will be out up to two months after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. The surgery was needed to remove a piece of knee cartilage.
Vinatieri, who is considered by many to be the clutchest kicker in the history of the NFL, has only missed three games in his career. This season, he was 6-for-8 on field goals and 17-for-17 on extra points. However, Vinatieri had been complaining about an ailing knee recently, so the kicker and the team decided to get it repaired now instead of waiting.
To replace Vinatieri, the Colts signed Matt Stover. The 41-year-old Stover kicked for the Baltimore Ravens franchise from 1991 to 2008. This year, he was out of a job after the Ravens decided to go with a younger kicker.
Considering Stover’s impressive resume, the Colts likely won’t miss a beat with Vinatieri out injured. But once Vinatieri is ready to get back onto the field, expect Indianapolis to waive Stover.
