AdScape’s Sold…Finally

February 17, 2007 by Mark Evans

In a deal that was on again, off again and on again, Google has bought Adscape for $23-million to position itself in the online gaming advertising market. Adscape was started in Ottawa but its corporate headquarters were moved to Silicon Valley a couple of years ago (most of the R&D is still done in Ottawa). For more check out TechCrunch, Red Herring, as well as this earlier post on Maple Leaf 2.0.

Google seems to be having a love affair with Canada these days. Its other moves north of the border include the purchase of Waterloo, Ont.-based Req Wireless last year (Req’s technology is playing a key part within Google’s mobile e-mail service) and the opening of an office in Montreal. What’s strange, however, is Google has yet to find a replacement for Wendy Mueller, who was country manager until she resigned a month or so ago.
