Afrika, Virtual Safari Style

Developed by Japanese company Rhino Studios, JapanStudio and brought to you by the friendly giants of Sony Computer Entertainment, Afrika is a game that promises to dazzle. Coming to the PS3 in August (although only in Japan at the moment), the trailer gives the game a simultaneously slick and exciting feel. Have a look at the trailer to see what I mean:

Love it. I’m a photog nerd as it is, and the renderings look absolutely amazing. I’m hoping that there’s mission-based play that allows you to run about trying to capture the perfect shot of an eating zebra (or some other wldlife pose), while driving in a jeep at full speed to avoid being jumped by a very hungry cheetah.

True, the price tag, at about $56 USD is a bit steep, but that’s pretty much the norm nowadays and sadly I don’t even blink until it gets up to the $70 mark. No word on if the game will ever be localized for North American gamers, but I find it hard to believe that this particular game is especially suited for Japanese audiences and not for those in Europe and the Americas.
