Sports Illustrated has a great set of write ups on newly inked players. The lead story is on A.J. Hawk of the Green Bay Favres..err Packers.
Sounds like the deal could go for 40 million bucks and 6 years. Wow!
When A.J. was drafted, the draft show on TV panned him all over. He was too up right and too stiff and too this and too that. Well, this writer is here to tell you, he is nothing if not too good!
He destroyed my Michigan State Spartans last year to the point that they hardly even wanted to play again all year. He was in the backfield so fast that he often made the huddle. We are talking 10 solo tackles alone, meaning we ain’t even looking at the assisted tackles in that game.
Special Note What can A.J. Hawk shoot for in his rookie season? Jevon Kearse had 14.5 sacks in his rookie season. This was an NFL record. He was the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Looks to be a better July for A.J. Hawke than he has ever had before, as he also got married in a civil ceremony this week and is planning a honeymoon with his wife in Aruba.
Interestingly enough, he married Laura Quinn, the sister of Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn.
This past year, Brady Quinn also had a career day against my Spartys, but lo and behold, he lost. This in spite of going 33 of 50 for 487 yards. Some publications have Brady as the number one returning NCAA College QB for next season.
Ever wonder what A.J. Hawk would look like with short hair? No, this is not some police computer trick. This is from the Ohio State web site.
Anyway, at 6′1″ and 247 with 4.73 speed, A.J. is predicted for early pro bowl participation. This is truly someone that the Packers can build there defense around.
Fan Question Can A.J. Hawk get the job done in his rookie season or is he in for a rude surprise?
