Charged with reckless driving, Albert Haynesworth decided to plead no contest. As a result, Haynesworth is required to complete driving school, donate $5,000 and do 25 hours of community service.
Haynesworth was originally charged in December after a traffic incident that took place near the city of Nashville, Tennessee. According to reports, a driver was seriously injured after Haynesworth tried to pass. Haynesworth wasn’t injured in the incident.
Last season, the 6-foot-6, 350 pound Haynesworth emerged as one of the best players in the NFL while playing for the Tennessee Titans. He totaled 51 tackles, 8.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. On nearly every play, Haynesworth drew two or three blockers.
After playing his first seven years in the NFL with the Titans, Haynesworth signed with the Washington Redskins this offseason. His contract was reportedly worth a record $100 million over seven years.
“Albert is a difference maker, said Redskins head coach Jim Zorn, “and his physical presence will strengthen our defense.”
