Alex Mercer Figurine with Prototype Pre-order

GameStop is offering an exclusive bonus with pre-orders for Prototype.  The game will be released on June  9, 2009 but rather than waiting for it to hit the shelves, you can pre-order it and get the retailer’s exclusive Critical Hints Map and one-of-a-kind Alex Mercer figurine.  How cool is that?  I love getting free stuff!

While the figurine is great, the map can actually help you do well while playing the game since it “provides clues spread across the map of New York City that help explain why Alex has such amazing shape-shifting and consumption abilities.”

In the game, players will take on the role of the Prototype (Alex Mercer) who is now cloaked in human form.  He doesn’t remember who he is (again, that map comes in handy here!) but his powers are undeniable.  The Black Watch Special Forces hit New York after a viral epidemic rips through Manhattan and, suddenly, Alex begins to realize the true nature of his power.

I love the skills that Alex possesses in the game.  He can shape-shift into whatever forms will help him deal with a threatening situation.  As such, he’s also got wicked disguising abilities and he can leap across buildings, run up walls and bounce off anything in his path.

I also love that this game involves a huge conspiracy-drive storyline so, while you are having fun playing the game, your mind is also trying to unravel a mystery.  Very cool.
