An Adventure Game that Goes to the Movies?
Well, well. All I have to say is it’s about time. Oh, what is it about time about? Well, I’ll tell you. According to Adventure Gamers, there will be an adventure game made into a movie! Which adventure game, you ask? The adventure game is pretty popular. You may have even heard of it. It’s called Broken Sword.
The name of the company producing the film is called CastleBright and you may read more about them here. Oh, and look, there’s even more information about the movie over at ComingSoon.Net. Here’s a little quote from ComingSoon regarding the movie:
Beginning with “The Shadow of the Templars” (released the U.S. as “The Circle of Blood”), films will follow the adventurous duo of George Stobbart and Nico Collard as they battle evil forces across the globe for ancient relics of power.
So, there will be at least one movie based on the series of three. Adventure Gamer points out that there might just be more movies after this one, because there are several games in the series, so if the first one is awesome, we can only hope for more awesomeness…ness.
I guess there are other movies that have adventure game themes. I mean, Indiana Jones, after all, has many adventure games that follow under his realm. But that isn’t the same, you know? I mean, the adventure game was made after the first movie came out, so it’s not really a movie about an adventure game. It’s an adventure game made after a movie. And some would argue that Pirates of the Caribbean (which comes out today… yeehaw!) is some what Monkey Island like. But maybe Monkey Island was based off Pirates of the Caribbean, which was first a book? Naaaah. That’s a stretch. Broken Sword the movie is pretty exciting any way you think about it, though.

Better make sure Mr. Uwe Boll doesn’t get close to this project…
Great post, oh adventuress!
Good one, gnome.
I think the adventure genre is one of the best (if not the best) source of games-turned-movies. These games already have a great existing story, so all the filmmakers have to do is translate it well.
The worst genre they can look at is the FPS (*cough Doom cough*). The story is just an afterthought in such games so putting together a movie that won’t suck is an exercise in frustration.
This new Broken Sword film is going to ROCK.
I wasn’t sure why you didn’t want good ol’ Uwe touching the game… until I looked him up on IMDB and I find that he’s responsible for most of the cheesy movie remakes of computer games. And now I would have to agree NOT to let the man near the movie. I’m scared.
Gak, Uwe reeks of cheese.
You should try looking for videos of the time he challenged his critics to a boxing match. It’s annoying to watch because the critics he chose weren’t physically up to the task.
Found one just now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqbVb-W7GqI
Wow… that guys sounds like a real winner! What a jerk!
Though admittedly beating ones critics in a ring has an interesting sound to it…
