An Indication of the Weekend Games: The South Florida – Rutgers Results

Last night, #2 South Florida walked off the field with their head hanging and their tails between their legs. That’s right – this crazy football season isn’t going to get saner anytime soon. Last night, South Florida lost to the unranked Rutgers. The final score was 27-30.
South Florida came out of the gates strong with 10 points answered only by a field goal by Rutgers. However, things fell apart for the Bulls during the second and third quarters, with Rutgers racking up 24 points to their 10 points. They tried to rally during the fourth quarter and made another touchdown, but it wasn’t enough, as Rutgers made a field goal early during the quarter.
South Florida is the 11th top ten team to an unranked team this season…and I can only predict that there will be more before the season is over. This include four other top three teams – Oklahoma (then #3) to Colorado on September 29, USC (then #2) to Stanford on October 6, LSU (then #1) to Kentucky last weekend and California (then #2) to Oregon State also last weekend.
This week’s top ten teams are:
- Ohio State (playing Michigan State)
- South Florida (lost already to Rutgers)
- Boston College (off this week)
- LSU (playing Auburn)
- Oklahoma (playingIowa State)
- South Carolina (playing Vanderbilt)
- Kentucky (playing Florida)
- Arizona State (playing California)
- West Virginia (playing Mississippi State)
- Oregon (playing Washington)
I do think that it’s likely that some of those teams will lose this week, especially Arizona State. How do you think the rest of the top ten will do?
