An Insight on the Industry
It was only lately, when I started researching about the industry that I was about to write about, that I found out about Casual Games Association. I didn’t know an organization like this even existed! (sorry, you guys)
The last time I was updated about the gaming industry was when I was about to graduate from my masters. My thesis was about the casual gaming industry in the Philippines. And I was still associated with an indie local game development company.
Upon visiting the site I was really surprised how the industry has grown. Statistics showed that it generated up to $700 million all over the world. (Data from CGA and DFC Intelligence 2006 Market Report)
According to the FAQ in their site, they’re expecting it to reach $1.5 billion worldwide by the end of the year. Man, that’s so much money I could never see in my lifetime.
