And, in other news…

For anyone not so bothered about the Ashes and discussing how bad England are, two other interesting bits of news have made the cricket headlines recently. Perhaps most importantly is the overturn of Shoaib Aktar and Mohammad Asif’s doping bans citing “exceptional circumstances” and, essentially, ignorance on the part of the players. They didn’t know what they were taken therefore they were innocent. Hmm.

And in much more amusing news Monty Panesar has been nominated as part of the BBC’s sports personality of the year. His personality is unquestionable, were Monty to win this comp, it would be a real kick in the nuts for Duncan Fletcher who has so far (controversially) overlooked him for a spot in an Ashes side.
