Android for the Masses with HTC Droid

One of my colleagues told me almost 10 months back that Android is the future of mobile applications. I have never thought about Android and never realized it exists but I was still curious why he treated Android as the platform of the future.

As the months moved forward I began to see one device after another being created on the Android platform. Verizon one of the technology communications giant has began rolling out a product line of Android powered devices. Google Apps became more and more powerful and popular and its integration with Android boosts the future of the platform furthermore.

Today, Google apps and Android are becoming powerful tools for productivity that is seeing wider user base.

Verizon’s new strategy and new product called the HTC Droid Eris ensures progressive growth of the Android. The HTC Droid isn’t as powerful as most mobile devices but its specifications of Android 1.6, 528 MHz CPU is enough for most users. The price tag. $99 USD. That is right, this is probably one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest) Android device in the market which aims to bring the platform and the device to the masses. We can see massive adaptation of this device and platform in the coming months.

It is speculated that the HTC Droid Eris is not going to be launched on November 6 alongside Motorola Droid which is another cheap Android device, but you might consider waiting a little longer for this device. I am pretty sure the manufacturers are pushing to release this right away before vendors start pushing Android devices in that price range.

Going back to what my colleague told me 10 months back, I strongly feel that Android based phones is going to make a good run and would probably be in the top tier in the years to come.
