Another Favorite Olympic Moment

In honor of the forthcoming 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, here is another one of my favorite and most memorable moments from the 1980 Winter Olympics. I was only two years old, so naturally I don’t remember the moment as it happened. I’ve only ever seen it on replays, but it still gives me chills nonetheless.
I’m talking about the “miracle on ice.”
On February 22, 1980, the U.S. Olympic Hockey Team did the impossible. Made up of amateur and collegiate no-name players, the team miraculously pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Olympic history. The United States beat the Soviet Union 4 to 3, and went on to win the gold medal by beating Finland 4 to 2 in the final game.
This game also gave Al Michaels his most famous line to date:
“Do you believe in miracles?”
In sports, anything is possible.
What’s your favorite Olympic memory or moment?
