Another Microsoft Re-organization – Do you even care?

Looks like Microsoft is playing with their updated copy of Visio again. Changes are happening in the organizational structure at the software giant. This time it’s the serves and tools unit escaping from the platforms and tools division and will be aligning itself with the same group that oversees the development of the Office suite application, Microsoft Business Division.

Microsoft’s official statement on the reasons behind these latest internal moves: “Microsoft senior leadership decided to make these changes to sharpen leadership focus on the company’s top priorities and align its organization for innovation, ultimately enabling it to deliver even more value to its customers.”

Is it just me, or does that just sound like some corporate mumbo jumbo generated like your generic lorem ipsum text? What does that mean? Was the other leadership completely unfocused? Let’s focus on top priorities and innovation. I’m sorry, but shouldn’t that go without saying?

I won’t argue with the “deliver even more value” part. I believe they do deliver value to me as a user, but the promise of delivering even more would be helpful.

Potentially the most disheartening aspect of this move from Microsoft will be whether or not I’m actually impacted at all by the change.
