Answers.com Gets Hit By Google’s Algo Change

Google rolled out a new algorithm update and one company which has seen major loss since then is Answers.com. According to a press release issued this morning by Answers.com, their website saw 28% loss in traffic in the past week.

Answers Corporation (ANSW) announced today that, due to a search engine algorithmic adjustment by Google, Answers.com has seen a drop in search engine traffic starting last week. As a result, overall traffic is currently down approximately 28% from levels immediately prior to the change.

It’s been mentioned that the company’s acquisition of Dictionary.com may fall through due to failure to raise needed capital. Answers’ CEO mentioned that although the Google hit the company tries not to count on search engine traffic as the majority of their flow but tries to build towards 70% traffic generated via their other properties.

One thing for sure, I would hate to be on their SEO team right now.
