Apple Launches New Web Site

When the Apple web site went down yesterday during the WWDC Keynote, most of us thought that some new and amazing product was being prepared to make its internet debut. Apparently we were wrong. No such new product was announced and instead of a new product being placed on the Apple web site, it was the Apple web site itself that got replaced. Enter Apple Web 2.0.
Well.. ok, ok that’s just what I call it. It does use a lot of Web 2.0 technology though. However it does not like the common Web 2.0 sites. It’s still distinctly Apple.
The Aqua style menu is now gone. It’s been replaced by metal goodness. Overall navigation of the web site is better. The search function is now featured on the top right of the page where it’s easily accessible.
Generous sprinklings of AJAX were used in the web site. From the scrolling sections, collapsible menus all the way to the pop-up images/pages, it’s all looking more and more like an app rather than a web site.
I like the current site. I still miss the old one but I like this one. Do you? Post a comment to give me your thoughts on the site.
