Apple Trademark Revision Suggests iGame

applelogo.jpgI love my new shiny aluminum iMac with a fervour that just might creep out the majority of people but one thing that I haven’t been doing a lot of on it, is gaming. It’s kind of like having a new toy that’s missing a screw and so doesn’t quite do all that you’d like it to. Yessss, there are awesome freeware games, and yesssss, if I truly wanted to I could spend 24/7 earning badges at Kongregate.com , but really, for someone who has been rabidly addicted to online FPS action for nearly (sadly) a decade at this point, my Mac baby is seriously hampering my gore quota.

Apple seems to be edging it’s way into the gaming sphere a little bit more now, and has even revised its trademark to include:

“toys, games and playthings, namely, hand-held units for playing electronic games; hand-held units for playing video games; stand alone video game machines; electronic games other than those adapted for use with television receivers only; LCD game machines; electronic educational game machines; toys, namely battery-powered computer games.”

Here it comes ladies and gents, the iGame, I can feel it! The “stand alone video game machines”, using a broad interpretation, could potentially point to an Apple console system, or another addition to the family of Apple accessories to sync with your iMac or iPod. “Hand-held units”? Well the iPod is kind of already in that game, but perhaps they’re working on a separate system, although that seems wasteful given that the iPod has the capability of handling a good chunk of the mobile/casual games scene.

Only time will tell, but in the meantime, if folks would get off their lazy cross-platform asses and make me some damn shoot’em ups that I can play right this instant without having to resort to using my old decrepit laptop…I’d be happy.
