Are You Addicted To Social Media?

Hello, my name is Kim Beasley and I’m addicted to social media. I can just imagine what the next few words out of mouth would be at a meeting for those hooked on social media. Would you be at this meeting of social media junkies? Do you know how to tell if you are a social media junkie? Then let me help you figure out.

One of the things that clued me into the fact that I am addicted to social media was when I was at a conference recently and all I could think about was tweeting (sending messages via Twitter) what the speakers were sharing. I did learn a lot from the speakers and I’m grateful to them for sharing their knowledge. But I have to admit that I couldn’t get enough of tweeting some of the things that they were saying.

Clue #2: You use your cell phone for tweeting more than talking on it

OK, this is a big one because one of the main reasons for having a cell phone is so you can “talk on the go”. Instead the cell phone has become an extention of your computer and you use it for tweeting or for sending pokes on Facebook. I’m not guilty of this one (that much, <<I’m smiling>>).

Clue #3: Your family sends you messages on Twitter or Facebook to keep in touch with you

I have to admit that I am guilty of this one because my family knows that the quickest way to get a message to me is to tweet me. If you have this problem then you are definitely addicted to social media.

Clue #4: You have more social media profiles than you can remember

If you have the habit of joining every social media website known just so you can “stay in touch with your people” then you might think about joining me at the meeting for those addicted to social media.
