AreYouRomantic.com Connects Caesars Pocono Resorts to Younger Couples

Caesars Pocono Resorts (CPR) has been in business for over 50 years and has a steady base of loyal customers. Their next mission was to attract younger couples to their resorts.

Working with EMA, they created a uniquely-branded microsite – AreYouRomantic.com to serve as a portal that would connect visitors with CPR’s Romance Concierge – a trained member of the staff who helps guests enjoy a specifically-tailored romantic experience while also casually familiarizing them with the Caesars Pocono Resorts brand.

Are You Romantic

AreYouRomantic.com features a “Tip of the Day”, the “Blog D’Amor” romance blog, many romantic resources, a Romance Quotient (RQ) Quiz and associated “getaway” sweepstakes. The getaway sweepstakes appeals to readers and helps develop an email database for future CPR marketing.

EMA also generates exposure of and traffic to the website is through the release of periodic romance related polls. Most recently, timed with the beginning of football season in the fall, they conducted a “Sports Lovers Poll,” which questioned couples about the affect of sports on their romance. Amusingly, the poll found that 1 in 4 men would give up sex for at least a month if it meant their favorite team would win the Super Bowl.

Success of AreYouRomantic.com

According to EMA, in the first seven months AreYouRomantic.com received over 125,000 page views and nearly 50,000 unique visitors. In addition, the website’s quiz and sweepstakes captured almost 7,000 new names for use in the CPR e-marketing database. The site has also directly generated monthly bookings and drives traffic to Caesars Pocono Resorts’ main sales website.

The microsite has also been mentioned on popular websites including Redbook, About.com, Brides.com, TangoMag.com, BridalWishlist Blog and BellaOnline and discussed on ABC’s The View.

The AreYouRomantic.com Sports Lovers Poll has captured extra attention on SI.com, Playboy.com, AskMenHealth.org, The Daily Star, Deadspin, Philadelphia Inquirer, DearSugar and the Larry Brown Sports blog. Poll results were also promoted on over 500 radio stations nationwide.

AreYouRomantic.com is now gearing up for its one-year anniversary celebration on Valentine’s Day.

Why It Works

CPR was targeting a younger audience and with the help of EMA they have been able to do exactly that. The microsite strategy allowed them to develop a separate entity with many interactive components, while also building their email list and driving traffic toward their sales site. Over the long run, this will help them diversify their customer base and build loyal customers from all generations.

By providing fresh content on AreYouRomantic.com and offering interactive polls, user submitted stories and sweepstakes they satisfy the desire for readers to be involved, as well as appeal to both sexes. Over the next year, I would expect that CPR will see even a larger increase in sales generated from AreYourRomantic.com traffic as the property becomes more established in search engines and in the minds of customers.
