Somali Pirates In Rickety Boat Fire On British Warship, Firepower Disparity Ensues
Three Somali pirates were killed yesterday when they opened fire on a heavily-armed British warship which had come to the aid of a Danish cargo ship.
The pirates, in a small wooden boat and armed with outdated Soviet weapons, attacked the Danish ship in an attempt to hijack some tasty breakfast pastries and contraband cartoons of the prophet Muhammad.
In the wake of the decision to fire on a Royal Navy assault craft “packed with commandos armed with machine guns and SA80 rifles,” the Somali government called for more U.N. relief funds to be funneled toward pirate education.
