Art Imitates Life
David McCusker is a British actor who has been doing movies, theatre (as they spell it in London) and commercials for over seven years.
He was tapped to play an insensitive lout who sneezes all over an elevator in a British public service announcement about swine flu.
Now, straight from the “you couldn’t make this up if you tried” department comes news that David McCusker has — you guessed it — swine flu.
Talk about viral marketing.
David is probably just thankful he didn’t take those two gigs for lung cancer and herpes.
The U.K. public service advert for swine flu urges Britons to “Catch It, Bin It, Kill It” and alludes to catching one’s sneeze in one’s tissue (please pronounce it “tiss-yew” for the purposes of this article), disposing of said tissue in the bin (known as the trash can here in the States) and killing it (the swine flu) by washing one’s hands at one’s earliest convenience.
Appearing last night on 60 Minutes, Michael Vick told reporter James Brown he had totally misunderstood what “Catch It, Bin It, Kill It” was referring to.
It turns out McCusker, too, was a bit confused by the PSA voice-over as he explained to the media saying, ““I was supposed to ‘Catch It, Bin It, Kill It’. But instead I’ve been shivering, shaking and spreading it.”
If you’re planning to visit London soon, be sure to look for David at the nearest salad bar … and then order the fish and chips.
