Asterpix: Links in Videos

Now here’s a nifty little application that could add a lot of value to online video product placements: Asterpix, a service that puts hyperlinks in YouTube videos. In the example above, I’ve linked a silly little dance video to the dancers’ personal sites. Mouseover the girls’ faces to see the little notes.

Kevin Nalts posts a great analysis of Asterpix’s usefulness. Advertising, subtitling, and now hyperlinking — it’s amazing what you can mash into streaming video embeds. As Robert Scoble notes, what we really need is a way to stack those overlays.
