Image details: Protests Erupt As Olympic Torch Relay Winds Through San Francisco served by picapp.com The Olympic Torch arrived in San Francisco yesterday. As expected, there were a bunch of protesters. The torch was rerouted to avoid anti-China hordes. Many of the protesters waved Tibetan flags, even one of the torch-carriers had a Tibetan flag on his wrist. Now, Sen. John McCain has joined Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton calling for President Bush to boycott the opening ceremonies in Beijing. Most of this outcry stems from the recent Chinese reaction to Tibetan protesters. This all seems very bizarre to me. China’s been jerks — huge jerks — to Tibet for years. “Free Tibet” is a running gag on the Simpsons,... [Read more]

Usually, I use the Actual Meaning Translator to find out what athletes really mean. Today, things will be done a little differently. Instead of finding out what Brett Favre meant in his recent quotes, we’ll find out what the Green Bay Packers fans heard. “It would be hard to pass up, I guess,” he told the Biloxi (Miss.) Sun Herald. “But three months from now, say that presents itself, I may say, you know what, I’m so glad I made that decision. I’m feel very comfortable in what I’m doing and my decision. “Yeah, I can probably be up there doing that and playing, but again, I don’t know. It’s only speculating. I think the world of that team. Ok, so, this disgraced ex-NFL quarterback gets sent to jail. But get this, in jail, he still plays football. But not with pro football players, but convicted criminals! I either picture it as a gritty, dark comedy or a slapstick-filled abomination. And we can even do that based on a true story thing at the beginning. I love that! Vick, a three-time Pro Bowl quarterback who is currently serving a 23-month prison sentence in Leavenworth, Kan. for financing a dogfighting ring, is playing football in prison, Falcons owner Arthur Blank told the New York Daily News. “He is staying in shape,” Blank told the Daily News. “Apparently, there was a prison football team and he played quarterback for both sides.” Whoa, wait. They’re... [Read more]

Did you guys see the line from Johnny Cueto? Yeah, I know, can you believe it. First MLB start and the guy had ten strikeouts. Yeah, I know. He was perfect through five innings too. Yeah, there would be a run to get him off waivers, if I didn’t draft him. Yeah, I drafted him. In the second to last round. Well, he had a real good spring. Spotty at times, but he showed some electric stuff. Yeah. No, I didn’t expect anythign like this to happen right out of the box, but I thought he had more upside than the other pitchers available. Yeah, I knew he was getting a rotation spot, Homer Bailey has been disappointing. Yeah, well, I can’t expect that every week. Still, it feels good. I almost passed on him. Yeah, seriously. I didn’t... [Read more]
