Bengals’ Chris Henry Dies

Cincinnati Bengals player Chris Henry has died from injuries suffered after falling from a moving truck. CNN confirms that Henry, who had been in critical condition, died in his hospital room in Charlotte, North Carolina. Henry had been fighting with his fiancee when she took off in a truck. Henry then tried to jump onto the back of the truck and he fell out.

Henry played for five seasons with the Bengals, but had been on the injury list this year since November 8th. He was 26.

Kerri Walsh is Pregnant

Beach volleyball athlete Kerri Walsh is getting ready to have another baby. She tells People that she is taking a year off so she can enjoy her family. Walsh also has a six month old son. She says she’ll let her volleyball partner Misty-May Treanor look for another partner, which the first time the two have not competed together since 2001. So if you’re good at beach volleyball, give Treanor a call!

I know a lot of women look for motivation to lose the weight after they deliver their baby, and Walsh is no different. She is going to try and get back in shape to re-team with Treanor so they can compete in the 2012 Olympics together. (And I thought Jlo was ambitious for trying to do a marathon so soon after delivering twins!)

Kendra Wilkinson Delivers

It’s official! Kendra Wilkinson, that Girl Next Door with the crazy giggle, has delivered her baby. OK Magazine reports that she married the Colts Hank Baskett and welcomed his namesake on December 11th at 12:37 a.m. For those keeping score, this makes the tike Hank Randall Baskett, IV.

Baskett is a receiver for the Colts, and his son might just be a future footballer too if his weight is any indication. He weighed 9 lbs., 5 oz. at birth. That’s some big baby!

Meanwhile Kendra’s pal Holly Madison told People that she will be doing plenty of shopping for her friend while she’s recovering. Think she’ll buy Kendra one of those Playboy bunny tee shirts? Yeah, maybe not. Tacky.

Favre on Injury List

Brett Favre just broke the “most consecutive regular-season games played by an offensive or defensive player” record this past Sunday, but now he’s listed as probable for the Vikings upcoming game. The odd thing is that he is on the injury reserve list for a malady that is “not injury related.”

Swine flu maybe? I can’t think of what this might be. Of course any time we’ve ever heard that Favre is “probable” he has always played. Through personal tragedy and injury he’s not only started but played the entire game. I think that’s the thing that people really don’t get about that iron man record. He didn’t just start the game, toss a couple balls, and sit down. He played the entire thing.

ProFootballTalk.com says Favre practiced Wednesday and Thursday, but “was a limited participant on Friday.” The site says they believe this means he was given some time off of practice to rest up for the big game against the Bengals. Still, listed Favre as “probable” is really pretty ridiculous if they are just resting him. Do the Vikings believe this will throw off the Bengals?

Plea Made in Erin Andrews Case

The Erin Andrews case is one that sends a chill through me. What kind of freak stalks a woman from hotel to hotel, messes with the peephole in her room, and films her naked? I can’t imagine who awful this must have felt to Ms. Andrews.

Hopefully she will feel more at peace knowing that they have caught the guy that did this, Michael David Barrett, and he’s now plead guilty. Yardbarker reports that he’s made a statement through his attorney:

Mr. Barrett accepts full responsibility for his conduct. He apologizes to Ms. Andrews, and expresses his deep regret for his conduct that caused her so much pain.

The site also says he “faces five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the interstate charge stalking charge related to Andrews.” Apparently Barrett was going to fight these charges, but authorities found more footage of another woman who was also nude, so he wisely realized the jig was up.

Sick. Totally.

Tom Brady Has a Boy

It’s another boy! Tom Brady’s wife Gisele Bündchen had a baby boy last night. Tom already has a son from his ex Bridget Moynahan (who he left while she was pregant ), so the new arrival already has an older brother. Tom also says he knew Gisele was going to have a boy, even before she did.

I really think they’re building a new football team, don’t you? Tom could be coach. Let’s hope he doesn’t get caught cheating like Belechick, tho.

No name has been chosen for the little Brady bundle yet.

No One Laughing at Michael Jordon Hoax

There’s publicity, and then there’s just plain stupidity. This story might just end up in the latter category. The owner of the Utah Flash, a minor league basketball team, promised fans that they would see a Michael Jordon/Bryon Russell match up during half time. Why Russell and why Jordan? Because Russell made some hubbub about Jordan’s Hall of Fame acceptance speech, and challenged him to some one-on-one action.

Brandt Anderson, the owner of the Flash, told fans that MJ and Russell would play out this little clash on the court at a Flash game. He also said he would give the “winner of the challenge $100,000 for the charity of his choice.”

It all sounds so happy/schmappy, doesn’t it? If only Anderson wasn’t fibbing. Rather than getting Jordan, he got an impersonator who looked like Jordan. He even got some buzz before the event by having the impersonator show up around the local spots in Provo so people would start talking.

About 7,500 fans were in attendance to see this hoax, and it sounds like they didn’t take too lightly to it. With all the buildup, they were told Jordan wasn’t in fact there and that the man walking around trying to be Jordan was an impersonator. They booed. They were ticked. And Brandt Anderson learned a thing or two about sports promotion.

People reports that soccer superstar David Beckham spent a busy Thursday afternoon at a “in Cape Town visiting women and children affected by HIV.” Beckham, along with people the husband of Posh Spice, dad, and hottie, is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. Beckham was in town to present the 2010 FIFA World Cup draw, which took place on Friday.

I have to say, I love hearing the positive side of sports and celebs, don’t you? For every Tiger Woods incident, there are many more of these type of happenings, and we should pay more attention to them. That’s my opinion. What’s yours?

What’s with the Vikings players and all this speeding? First it was Adrian Peterson going 109 in a 55. Now it’s wide reciever Bernard Berrian, who, according to Fox Sports, was “cited for driving 104 mph in a 60-mph zone.”

Tsk tsk. I hope these Vikings players have the ability to take the collection need for speed and make it work on the field. Where it counts.

What’s next? Favre doing 100 in a school zone?
