The 2009 campaign was a season to forget for Crisp. He hit just .228 and required rotator cuff surgery that ended his season after just 49 games. His best season to date was probably in 2006 when he hit .300 with 16 homers, 69 RBIs, 86 runs and 15 stolen bases for the Indians.

With the A’s, Crisp is very likely to be the team’s starting center fielder. Billy Beane, the team’s general manager, has long targeted Crisp as a player he wants on his team due to Crisp’s ability to track down balls in the outfield, run the bases and get on base.

To complete Oakland’s outfield, expect Ryan Sweeney to play in either left field or right field. Rajai Davis will likely be in the other corner outfield position.

Amazingly, even without Nowitzki, the Mavs were able to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tim Thomas led the way with 22 points and seven rebounds, while Jason Terry chipped in 19 points off the bench. LeBron James had 25 points but hit just 9-of-23 field goal attempts.

With the Minnesota Vikings leading the Carolina Panthers by a score of 7-6 at halftime, Vikings head coach came to Brett Favre with an idea: Sit out the second half. Favre, in what he called a “heated discussion”, fought the idea and insisted on staying in the game. Favre won that fight but the Vikings ended up losing the game.

In the fourth quarter, the Panthers dominated the Vikings to win 26-7. Matt Moore had 299 yards through the air and three touchdowns. Jonathan Stewart had 109 yards on the ground and one touchdown. Wide receiver Steve Smith had 157 yards on nine catches and scored a TD.

Favre once again didn’t look as good as he did earlier in the season. He had 224 passing yards on 17-of-27 passing and an interception. He only has one touchdown pass in his last two games and has posted a quarterback rating below 80 in three straight outings.

Adrian Peterson also struggled for the Vikings. The superstar RB had a touchdown but gained only 35 yards on 12 carries.

At 11-3, the Vikings have clinched their division. However, this loss hurt Minnesota’s chance to get a bye week. Also possibly hurt this week was the relationship between Favre and Childress. Stay tuned.

Although the Phillies returned to the World Series again last season, Rollins slumped for a lot of the season. He finished the year with 21 homers, 77 RBIs, 100 runs and 31 stolen bases but hit just .250 and his on-base percentage was .296. For a leadoff hitter, that’s just not good.

In the postseason, he wasn’t much better — hitting .234 with an on-base percentage of .306. While the Phillies didn’t hesitate to pick up Rollins’ 2011 option, they would love for the 31-year-old to revert back to his All-Star caliber play.

Harvin has been an immediate help to the Vikings. He’s quickly become one of Brett Favre’s favorite targets and his versatility makes Minnesota a much more dangerous squad. On the season, he has 48 catches for 681 yards and six touchdowns. He also has 13 rushing attempts for 113 yards.

Back in May, Harvin had a swine flu scare. However, further tests indicated that he was simply suffering from severe dehydration and a virus. With regard to the migraines, it is a condition that Harvin has dealt with for his entire life.

The NBA has a policy that states that players cannot use Twitter during games and 45 minutes before and after the contest. Brandon Jennings, the star rookie point guard for the Milwaukee Bucks, must have missed the memo.

After the Bucks beat the Portland Trail Blazers recently, Jennings (@YUNGBUCK3) said the following:

“Back to 500. Yess!!! “500″ means where doing good. Way to Play Hard Guys.”

For his Tweet, which came less than 45 minutes after the game, Jennings was fined $7,500 by the NBA. Following the fine, Jennings has threatened to delete his Twitter account.

“I’m bout to delete my twitter. Twitter cost me 7500. Looks like no Gucci and Louie for Xmas.”

Truthfully, it’s pretty lame for the NBA to come down on a young player who is celebrating the fact that his team won a game. There are a lot more things the league could be doing than playing the role of Twitter Mommy.

Setting up Gonzalez in Baltimore’s bullpen will likely be Koji Uehara and Jim Johnson. George Sherrill was the team’s closer last season but he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Braves were able to let go of Gonzalez after signing Billy Wagner to close games. Rafael Soriano, who also closed games for Atlanta last season, was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays earlier in the offseason.

Although Orlando entered the game with a 19-6 record, you would have never known by just watching them play on Thursday night. Usually they share the ball well and knock down shots — but that wasn’t the case. The Magic finished with just 12 assists and hit 9-of-28 three-pointers and 9-of-17 free throws.

The Heat are now 13-11 after winning their last two games. The mini winning streak started after Carlos Arroyo was placed in the starting lineup ahead of Mario Chalmers. If Miami keeps winning, expect to keep seeing that lineup.

The Jaguars got good games from Maurice Jones-Drew and David Garrard. Jones-Drew had 110 rushing yards, 30 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Garrard passed for three touchdowns and 223 yards. The loss dropped the Jaguars to 7-7 and harmed their chances of making the playoffs.

To complete their regular season, the Colts face the New York Jets and then travel to Buffalo to play the Bills in the season finale. Can they remain undefeated heading into the playoffs? It’s looking likely at this point.
