Several months ago, I conceived Tech Side Up as a spiritual successor to a blog then known as “Emerging Earth.” The latter had several writers including Jason Bean, Aaron Brazell and was bridged by Mike Abundo who also took over Tech Side Up. It’s with a little sadness that we have to let this little blog go into retirement – I don’t know for how long. That’s not for me to decide. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the readers who sat through our little adventure – a dash of news and commentary with some hint of sarcasm. That’s what we were. PC World released a short but sweet article on industry quotes. It talked about how “safe” cloud computing storage can be and the relative safety is actually just like having your items on your local drive. Some suggestions they make to keep your files secure are a little obvious – “like outsourcing something you think you can’t handle on your own.” Others are more pragmatic like planning a good exit strategy for your data, and how easy will it be to achieve this.
