While most of it seems unavoidable, there is one thing you can prevent: foot odor.

Here are a few tips for preventing foot funk:

Wash daily with warm water, soap and a wash cloth or brush. Dry thoroughly.

Use over the counter foot powder to absorb sweat and prevent what I like to call Trench Foot.

Opt for shoes made of natural materials that allow your feet to breathe, like leather.

Wear cotton or wool socks instead of nylon: they absorb sweat better.

If you have sever problems with sweating, you may have a condition call hyperhidrosis. Your doctor can suggest treatments for this condition.

Clif Bar sent me some of their new Luna Bar flavors and products to try out. I’m not just saying this because I got swag, but Luna Bars are my favorite bars of any brand. They are never too sweet which is a big turn off for me, and I’ve never tried a flavor I didn’t like.

I immediately opened the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Luna Bar and was not disappointed. In true Luna fashion, it wasn’t too sweet, and you could really taste the macadamia nut flavor. I didn’t find any actual nuts, but there’s enough crunch that I didnt really miss them.

The new Luna Cookies are my favorite though; the Berry Pomegranate especially. The cookie was nice and chewy, with tons of chuncks of berry. It reminded me of a Nutrigrain bar without the cake-y texture with way more nutrients and way more cookie for 140 calories.

Also included was a Mint Chocolate Luna cookie which I scarfed down before I could take a picture (I’m not a foodie, I’m not used to taking pictures of things I eat). It was amazing. Chewy Thin Mint sums it up completely.

The naked Peanut Butter Chocolate Luna cookie tasted exactly like a Peanut Butter Z-bar, which I’m not a huge fan of, but I haven’t met another single person that doesn’t like them. The consistency was a bit denser, and more gooey than the other cookies.

And, last but not least they sent along the little Mini Lunas, which I cannot find anywhere in my area. I’ve been looking for the longest time, but I cannot find a store that carries them. They are the perfect pre or post workout snack- under 100 calories and gone in 2 bites. I can’t eat much before I work out or else I get a stomach ache so these are perfect. If anyone knows where to find them around Seattle, please let me know.

Thanks, Clif Bar, for the yummy bars and I will definately be picking up some of the cookies to take with me to work!

Oprah, Queen of the Universe, is up to 200 pounds.

In her latest issue of O magazine, Oprah talks about, almost apologetically, her weight gain.

While she sites her thyroid as an issue, she also admits that she hasn’t been watching what she is eating and isn’t exercising as much as she should.

She says:

“I’m embarrassed. I can’t believe that after all these years, all the things I know how to do, I’m still talking about my weight. I look at my thinner self and think, `How did I let this happen again?’”

I remember watching an episode of Oprah a while back where she showed her favorite favorite healthy snack, which was 3 transparently-thin slices of cheese and half a green apple. She showed her workout room, and her trainer, Bob Green, who worked her out 2 hours a day. She was not permitted any alcohol. Ever. I also remember thinking, no freaking wonder she can’t control her weight, she’s the poster child for deprivation.

No one can keep up regimine like that, let alone OPRAH, who has to be the busiest woman in the world.

I also find it so courageous that she spoke up about it, openly and honestly, with her readers, to try and help them, instead of sweeping it under the rug and pretending it wasn’t an issue to protect her image. I don’t find it hypocritcial that she devotes so many shows to healthy eating and weightloss yet she can;t keep her weight off, I think she’s just showing she’s human.

Oprah, I still love you. Even though you shout and shake your fists and ask really insensitive questions to people that are going through traumatic times.

I take this as proof that even someone with personal chefs, personal trainers, nutritionists and the entire world watching her every move can still have issues with their weight. It further shows, to me, that it has to come from inside: you can go through the motions, but if you aren;t enjoying your healthy lifestyle (even though her workout schedule/menu didn’t seem very healthy to me) you won’t keep it up.

What are you thoughts?

I received this question from Rebecca:

I hear lots about using weight training to even out imbalances (of which I have a lot – my right side is a ton stronger than my left). Sooo … how exactly do you do this? It sounds like you would just work out the weaker side, but it feels weird not to do both.

Before I had a chance to answer, Asithi stepped in offered her opinion which was right on the money:

I have the same problem. My left arm is stronger since I bowl regularly with my left arm, but my left leg is weaker from an injury in a car accident. Talk about imbalances! I do not workout only one side of my body. When I do bicep curls, I use the same weight for both side. When I do squats, I hold the same weight. The only difference is that I let my weaker side be my guide. When it reaches fatigue, that is when I stop even though my stronger side can keep going.

You never want to lift different weights on different sides or else you’ll never catch up and just become more imbalanced. Most imbalances aren’t so pronounced that you can’t lift the same weight on both sides- most of the time they manifest themselves through injury when other muscles are sick of overcompensating for the weaker ones, and when range of motion is limited. Lift the same weight you normally would, but listen to your weaker side. Your stronger side is still getting a workout, its just giving your weaker side time to catch up.

Don’t forget to enter this week’s giveaway! It ends Friday!
