DragonQuest IX Trailer Brings Hope To World

This is the DragonQuest IX trailer. It is a thing of beauty. Seriously, I am so looking forward to this. I’m amazed at how good it looks; maybe not as rich as the current Champion of RPGs, DragonQuest VIII, but nothing to sneeze at. I’m very happy to see the return of old spell-casting sound effects. If I’m not mistaken, that was sadly absent from DragonQuest VIII. Ah, when the theme started up, my old heart just soared. [Read more]

Exclusive LittleBigPlanet Amazon Trailer

LittleBigPlanet is dee-layed due to offended Muslims and some “necessary censorship” (though to be fair, some non-offended Muslims are…offended too). While we sit and grumble, let us take the time to check out this exclusive Amazon.com trailer. It demands that you pre-order. [Read more]

Tomato’s site has undergone a nice revision in honour of the Mother 3 patch release. He’s also put together a final trailer: Tomato’s site is also the portal to some very special Mother 3 merchandise, especially this sexy number–a Mother 3 guide put together by the fans, much in the style of old Nintendo Power guides before Nintendo started phoning that shit in. I wanted to put my pre-order in, but they don’t take Paypal. WTF, I ask ye. Still, I am not daunted. I’m trying to remember my husband’s credit card number. [Read more]

GamesRadar has put together a curious something: The RPG Emo-Off. Which JRPG character is the fruitiest? Do any of your favourites make the final cut? I have to say people sling around the word “emo” without giving much thought as to what it means. I won’t deny that JRPGs have problems, but I don’t know if CRAAAAAWLING IN THEIR SKIIIIIN really summarises them. JRPGs have a lot of angst and some self-pity, but I’d say the real problem at hand is pretention. Well, consider the first half of Final Fantasy VIII’s ending: What we have here is Square pounding on the CG button like a kid who’s just discovered the noisy delight of pots and pans. “Can’t have a straight forward narration, oh no. Let’s... [Read more]

All Life Begins With Nu Chrono Trigger Trailers

I think my flu is coming back for a second round. How is this possible. Is this not illegal? Here’s a new trailer for Chrono Trigger DS. The thing that sets this particular trailer apart for me is that it finally gives the game a rating: E10+. Uh, maybe this rating came into existence ages ago. I know not, for I am a sad human being. So here we are: E10+ for Animated Blood (not remembering anything of the sort), Mild Fantasy Violence, Suggestive Themes and Alcohol Reference. Oh, Toma. That’s the end of your soda pop, I guess. I’m kind of curious about the Suggestive Themes bit. That’s always been an infuriatingly vague classification. I wonder if it means Ayla’s breast feeding remark was restored. God knows my life’s... [Read more]
