book.jpgIn a thoughtful essay, The Authors Guild points out how Amazon is probably after the long tail profits and says why they suspect any statement that tries to spin their move to insist people print with their BookSurge to anything like customer service or energy savings, etc.

The AG is considering legal action under antitrust laws and is inviting anyone with any information to contact them.

Meanwhile, I’m trying to figure out what will actually happen with Powerfully Recovered!, a book I self-published through Universal Publishers years ago. As of this morning it’s still in stock, and still has the normal add to cart button. I’ll keep you posted.

  1. This is an interesting saga to follow. I have been discussing with a publisher, who uses Lightning Source, the possibilities of her publishing my Alzheimer’s book. Now things are sort of in limbo until we find out what’s happening for sure. I can imagine this could vastly affect her publishing business.

Hmm, the long tail theory does seem to make sense here… It will be interesting to see how this turns out.
